To better understand day-to-day living at Centenary Mill, residents were asked to indicate how important different aspects of the building are to their overall experience.

Residents at Centenary Mill placed strongest emphasis on safety, security, and the reliability of core building systems. Entrance security, communal condition, lighting, and maintenance emerged as clear priorities, while views on car parking were more varied across respondents.

The responses clearly indicate which aspects of the building residents consider most important in their day-to-day experience.
Key Areas of Importance
Security of entrances and shared spaces, alongside the reliability of access doors and locking systems, are overwhelmingly identified as very important, highlighting the central role of safety and secure access in residents’ day-to-day experience.
The condition of communal internal areas — including floors, walls, and ceilings — is widely regarded as important, reflecting the role these shared spaces play in everyday living.
Lighting within shared internal areas is also considered important by the majority of respondents, contributing both to usability and perceptions of safety.
Protection from rain and water ingress in shared spaces is likewise viewed as important, highlighting expectations around building integrity and ongoing maintenance.
Lift availability and reliability, while still important overall, shows a broader spread of responses, suggesting that resident experience in this area is less consistent.
Car parking arrangements and availability show the greatest variation in responses, indicating that this is a significant issue for some residents, but less central for others.
What This Tells Us
The results show a clear progression from aspects that residents consistently regard as essential, to those where experiences and priorities are more varied.
Understanding what matters most provides important context for interpreting the rest of the survey results.
In the next post, we will look at how residents feel these aspects are currently performing in practice.
