About

What is a Leaseholders’ Association?

A Leaseholders’ Association is a term commonly used to describe what is formally known in law as a Recognised Tenants’ Association (RTA). In practice, the term “Leaseholders’ Association” is often preferred to avoid confusion with organisations representing secure or social tenants.

A Leaseholders’ Association is formed when leaseholders come together to share information and to represent matters of common interest relating to their homes and the management of their development.

The Centenary Mill Leaseholders Association

The Centenary Mill Leaseholders Association exists to provide information and a point of contact for leaseholders at Centenary Mill, Preston. Its purpose is to support communication between leaseholders and to facilitate engagement on matters of general relevance to the development.

The Association does not act as a managing agent, decision-making body, or legal authority. It does not replace the role of the landlord, managing agent, or Right-to-Manage (RTM) company.

Relationship with the RTM Company

The shared landlord for Centenary Mill is Centenary Mill Court (Preston) RTM Company Limited, which was established following a Right-to-Manage process in 2013.

The Leaseholders’ Association is independent of the RTM company. Where appropriate, it may seek to engage constructively with the RTM and other relevant parties on matters affecting leaseholders, while remaining a voluntary and non-statutory body.

Who the Association Represents

The Association is open to all leaseholders at Centenary Mill who wish to stay informed or engage with shared interests, regardless of their RTM membership status.

Participation in the Association is voluntary.
